The Number 1 Mindset You Must Have For Supplements
When it comes to the topic of (legal) supplements, easily the most frequently asked question is whether the product one purchases lead the physical results that is expected (i.e. will this thing even work?).
Supplement companies are notorious for marketing their products with outrageous claims of boosting testosterone by 250% or cutting one’s body fat percentage to 5%. As a result, this has divided the fitness community into two factions: those who live by their packaged providers and those who avoid supplements at all costs. Whether you have been exercising for years or decided that 2018 will be the year to obtain your designed physique, you will face uncertainty when it comes to supplementation.
With all of this in mind, I want provide some clarity to this issue by pointing the #1 mindset you must have when it comes to picking and using supplements. To do this, we need to go back to school (at least for those who are done).
At some point in time, our teachers would give us opportunities to boost our grades with extra credit. Maybe it was a bonus question on a test or an extra assignment that we had to complete. If we did the additional work our teacher would give a couple of points to our final grade. If you had a B- in the middle of the semester, you might end with a B or if you had a B+ you finished with A. Depending on how gracious your teacher was, the extra credit you did transformed a B grade into A. However, I would bet my reputation that no amount of extra credit could turn a C into an A, a definitely an F+ into A.
What does this have to do with supplements?
Simple:
Supplements are the extra credits for your body. When utilized properly, they can improve a physique from good to great and transform a great physique into a jaw-dropper. But you are fooling yourself if think that OmegaSupps BCAA-ZMA-Creatine Cerberus Mix (Not real……yet) will turn your average body into a marvel to behold.
Ultimately it does not matter what supplement or supplement brand(s) you consume if you do not put effort into your training, eating lifestyle, and sleeping behavior. The supplements you take, particularly those around exercise, will merely sharpen the sword you have already crafted. If you have a fragile sword or none at all, you might as well starting waving the white flag or pray that you’re wearing brown pants.
Now don’t get me wrong, there are shady brands and companies whose products are as energizing as powdered rice. But even for the trustworthy business, their unique supplements can only do so much when it comes to accomplishing your goals.
For many reading this article, this may seem like an obvious conclusion. But I assure you that once you adopt this mindset, it easier to decide how much of your time and money should be invested into supplements and how much should go to your other fitness priorities. Otherwise, you’ll be wasting your time calculating the best supplement stack combinations to get a six pack.
